Upper Saddle River is a Sustainable Jersey certified community–one of only 108 in the state. Upper Saddle River achieved its 2011 bronze level certification after completing a rigorous program of sustainable initiatives. Municipalities that earn the certification are considered by their peers, by state government, and by the experts and civic organizations in New Jersey to be among the leading municipalities in the state, for implementing sustainable practices within their community.
To achieve its certification, Upper Saddle River completed the following sustainable actions:
- Community Visioning – Vision 20/20
- Mayor’s Wellness Campaign
- Energy Audits for municipal buildings
