Public Works

Public WorksThe Borough of Upper Saddle River is approximately 5.3 square miles with 79 miles of roadways which include municipal, county and state. Our population is around 9,000 people with a 20% daytime rise Monday through Friday.

The Public Works Department is responsible for the repair and maintenance of department equipment, storm basin drainage, grounds and buildings, public fields and parks, road repairs and traffic signage, the recycle center operations and snow removal.

Residential brush pickup will be collected every other week. In order to allow for these frequent pickups by the DPW, the branches must be tied and placed in neat, manageable bundles with branches no longer than 5 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter. Please have these bundles at the curb, as the DPW men will not go up driveways. Brush pickup runs from April 1st through October 31st. Any questions about this pickup, please email the Department of Public Works Foreman.

Public Works has a staff available after normal business hours if an emergent need arises. We can be reached by calling the Upper Saddle River Police on their non-emergency number 201-327-2700, and reporting your matter. Call 877-927-6337 to report and incident or pollution concern to NJ Departmental of Environmental Protection. Please keep our storm waters clean.

To request service or report a concern we prefer email.
