On Saturday, June 6, the Upper Saddle River Recreation Commission will
hold its 6th Annual Upper Saddle River Youth Triathlon. This triathlon
is opened to all children ages 8-14.
The
youth triathlon will incorporate swimming, biking and running. The children
will begin their swim at the Saddle River Valley Swim & Tennis
Club, bike to Lions Park, and finish the running portion of the triathlon
at Lions Park. The swimming, biking and running distances will be different
for the two separate age groups the children are going to be divided into.
In order to get the kids involved in the triathlon, the Recreation Commission
is also organizing a T-Shirt
Design Contest for all children that live
or go to school in Upper Saddle River. First prize for this contest is
a bike and the winning design will be on the triathlon t-shirt. This is
a way to get the children involved in the triathlon, as well as encourage
them to participate.
Raffles,
food and prizes will be set up in Lions Park at the finish line. Sponsors
and volunteers are welcome to help.

Aurora
Abzug Wins T-Shirt Contest
The
Upper Saddle River Youth Triathlon Committee has selected Aurora Abzug
as the winner of this year’s Youth Triathlon T-shirt Contest.
With over 20 entries it was a very difficult decision by the Triathlon
Committee. Aurora will receive a new bicycle compliments of Cyclesport
in Park Ridge. The Committee would like to thank all of those children
that participated in this years contest. All of the pictures will be
on display at the Youth Triathlon finish line at Lions Park on Saturday,
June 7th.
